The Colombini Group was founded in 1965 by the family bearing the same name, specialized in handicraft techniques for the production of furniture. The constant request for hotel bedroom furniture from the nearby Adriatic coast, from Venice down to Bari, encouraged the company's owners to invest in new woodworking technologies, including melamine-coated panels. This decision, together with generous investments in machinery, transformed the company from a small artisan structure into an important industrial concern. The distribution to the Italian retail network has been increased by an astute interpretation of the middle-range furniture market and by far-sighted concept of modularity. This was the starting point of a continuous growth process with products ranging from bedrooms to living rooms, from bookcases to furnishing complements, and from built-in kitchens to office furniture. The Group's companies are located in the tiny Republic of San Marino, an ancient independent state in the centre of Italy, in the immediate vicinity of Rimini, and only 100 km from the city of Bologna.
